Epithalon (Epitalon)
Telomerase activator for life extension and circadian rhythm
Overview
Epithalon (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) is a synthetic tetrapeptide derived from the pineal gland. It is considered the 'gold standard' in longevity research for its ability to activate telomerase (elongating telomeres) and restore the body's natural melatonin production. Research indicates it can reset the circadian clock and delay cellular aging.

Mechanism of Action
Functions as a Telomerase Activator and Epigenetic Regulator. 1. Telomere Elongation: It induces the expression of the catalytic subunit of telomerase (TERT) in somatic cells. This allows cells to overcome the 'Hayflick Limit' (the max number of times a cell can divide), effectively reversing cellular age at the DNA level. 2. Chromatin Remodeling: It binds to specific DNA sequences to 'unroll' silent heterochromatin, activating antioxidant defense genes (SOD, Glutathione Peroxidase). 3. Pineal Restoration: It restores the sensitivity of the pineal gland to light cues, normalizing melatonin and cortisol rhythms, which is critical for deep sleep and immune function in the elderly.

Recent Research
As the flagship 'Khavinson Peptide,' Epithalon remains the subject of long-term longevity studies. Research consistently highlights its ability to induce telomerase activity, effectively 'adding time' to the cellular clock. In 2024, interest has renewed in its role in circadian medicine. Studies suggest that by rejuvenating the pineal gland, Epithalon does not just provide melatonin, but restores the body's ability to produce it naturally, correcting the fragmented sleep architecture seen in dementia and advanced aging. It is also being investigated for retinal regeneration in degenerative eye diseases.
